About the workshop:
Learn the basics of botanical illustration in watercolor. The instructor will teach the fundamentals of sound watercolor technique with specific focus on tropical flora as well as locally available botanical subjects. At the end of the course, the student should be able to paint confidently in watercolor medium and have better appreciation of the intrigues and beauty of botanical art.

About the Instructor:
Teo Nam Siang is an architect by training. He has over 30 years of experience painting in watercolour. In the last 10 years, he has focused his art on natural history subjects, including native fauna and flora of tropical South-east Asia. His clients include organizations such as the Singapore Zoo, National University of Singapore, Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research, SingPost and private individuals. He is a member of the Botanical Art Society (Singapore) and has exhibited with the Society and in other joint exhibitions locally and overseas. His recent work won the “Best of Show” award in the 2022 Flora of Southeast Asia Exhibition held in Singapore Botanic Gardens. Sample of his artworks can be found on his Instagram account @nam_siang
